The Cocoon

The Cocoon

The Cocoon is a heritage listed property in the heart of St Kilda which has 19 studio apartments. The property is owned by a local community housing provider, HousingFirst. The Cocoon will become a home for young women between aged 18 and 25 years, who have a history of homelessness, being in and out-of-home care, or are NDIS participants. We will be opening our doors in February 2022.

The Cocoon will offer a therapeutic space for its residents, who will live-in with two supportive youth mentors. We have a dedicated space, the Butterfly Room, for group and individual support sessions. Each resident will have a key worker, and there will be onsite support between 10am and 3pm each weekday.

The residents will have access to education, training, gym, life and living skills, and a number of weekly groups such as a dog walking and coffee club.

The Cocoon offers accommodation for one year, when we aim to support each young woman to move into safe, affordable, and long-term housing.

We will be opening for referrals for women who have NDIS or Home Stretch packages on 1st December 2021. If you would like to live at the Cocoon or would like to make a referral please contact

The project is 100% philanthropically funded.
